Hardy hibiscus performs best in full sun but can tolerate partial shade, though this may reduce growth and flowering. In very hot climates, some shade during the peak of the day can be beneficial.

Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Water daily for the first week after planting, then reduce to every two days in the second week, and twice a week thereafter unless it is especially hot and dry, in which case water every other day.

Hibiscus blooms from mid-to-late summer, starting in June and continuing into the fall.

Insufficient sunlight is a common reason. Hibiscus requires at least six hours of direct sunlight daily. Incorrect watering, either too much or too little, can also prevent blooming.

Yellow leaves typically indicate water issues—either too much or too little.
